Biography
  Susan F. Friedman serves as a Senior Vice President, Claims Advocate and Employed Lawyers Practice Leader for the FINPRO New York Office and nationally. She has been with Marsh as a Claims Advocate for over eight years. Susan’s primary responsibilities include consulting with clients with regard to complex claim issues involving copyright and trademark infringement, securities litigation, regulatory investigations, business disputes involving directors, officers or employees, marketing/media/advertising errors & omissions, lawyers professional liability, employment practices, ERISA/fiduciary liability, fidelity, and all related forms of professional liability. Ms. Friedman’s primary role as the Employed Lawyers Practice Leader is to review exposures of in-house counsel, research insurance market information, assist in the brokerage process, and consult with clients as to this line of insurance. She is a contributing writer to the Legal Times, The New York Law Journal and the International In-House Counsel Journal. Certain of her recent articles include “The Metamorphosis of In-House Counsel”, The New York Law Journal, February 2007; “True Tales from The Law Department”, The New York Law Journal, July 2007; “Roadmap for Insurance Coverage”, The New York Law Journal, December 2007; “The Stage is Set…”, The New York Law Journal, February 2008, “Mission Possible”, The New York Law Journal, July 2008, and “Will More GC’s Be Targeted for Investigations in 2009?”, The New York Law Journal, December 2008 and law.com January 2009. . In addition, she speaks publicly and writes on a variety of insurance topics germane to all financial product lines. Prior to joining Marsh, Inc., Ms. Friedman was Claims Counsel for American International Group for five years in the areas of directors & officers liability, ERISA/fiduciary liability, and employment practices liability. She began her legal career as an Associate Attorney in the litigation departments of general liability and lawyers’ professional liability for Wilson Elser LLP. Immediately preceding her professional experience in law and insurance, Ms. Friedman was employed in a variety of capacities in the media/entertainment industry including, Assistant Media Buyer, Public Relations Manager, Copywriter, Scriptwriter, Associate Producer, Marketing Specialist, General Manager, and Consultant. She has worked for such entities as Media Basics, ESPN’s “Mark Sosin’s Saltwater Journal”, Taggart Communications, CBS/FOX Video, HBO, Viacom, Children’s Video of America, and Media Development Industries. She was also a member of the Scriptwriters Guild East and Chairperson for the Lawyers As Journalists Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Ms. Friedman holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics with a minor in Food Science and Food Marketing from Cornell University. She remains active in the Cornell Club of New York and is on the board of directors of AutismNetworks.com. Ms. Friedman graduated Magna Cum Laude from The New York Law School where she served as an Editor for The New York Law School Law Review. She is admitted to practice law in New York.
